Mulled wine with cinnamon and brandy

Ingredients
2 and 1/4 cup water
1 tbsp sugar
2 cinnamon sticks
1.5 l red wine
1/2 cup cognac
lemon slices
Method
Water, cinnamon and sugar are put in a saucepan and boil on a hot plate. Add the wine and heat slowly until the mixture is hot again. Add cognac, stir and remove from fire. Serve hot, garnished with lemon slices.
